Container Lashing Fittings: A Selection Guide for Project Cargo

Container lashing fittings should be selected from the interface outward. A project buyer needs to identify the container or trailer geometry, fitting position, compatible lashing rod or chain, installation method, quantity, finish and documentation. A catalogue name alone does not show whether a bridge fitting, plate, rod, turnbuckle, stacker or twist lock will fit the intended structure.

Start with the installation position

For a first review, open the Chain Accessories category and the Container Lashing Hardware Guide. A Container Bridge Fitting or Container Lashing Plate may be considered for different attachment arrangements. The buyer should provide a drawing, photograph, container position and mating component so the supplier can discuss the correct interface.

A Container Lashing Rod and Container Lashing Turnbuckle should be quoted with the required length, connection style, tensioning method and project quantity. If the project uses Container Twist Locks or Container Stackers, identify the equipment model and installation position rather than asking for a generic substitute.

Document the project context

Container and RoRo work often involves multiple interfaces, delivery stages and parties. Put the vessel, trailer, yard, project cargo or temporary-storage context in the RFQ. State whether the fittings are for a new build, replacement, maintenance stock or a one-time project. Include quantity by position, packing requirements, marking, corrosion or finish discussion, destination market and required drawings or inspection records.

A Pad Eye Lashing Point may also be relevant where the structure requires a fixed lashing point. The supplier should review the fitting with the supporting structure and attachment method; a product page is not a structural design approval. If the customer has an approved drawing or marine standard, include it with the quotation request.

Do not infer a project rating from a fitting name

The eCFR requires cargo to be contained, immobilized or secured to prevent harmful shifting and sets performance criteria for tiedown assemblies.1 Those rules provide regulatory context, but they do not establish an unverified product rating or approve a container arrangement without project-specific review. Confirm the applicable current rule, vessel or carrier requirement and available product documentation.
