How to Choose a Load Binder for Chain Cargo Securement
A load binder is the tensioning component in a chain cargo-securement system. Choosing one is not only a question of handle style. The buyer should match the binder to the chain family, hook interface, anchor arrangement, working environment, handling preference and documentation required for the shipment.
Start with the chain and connection points

Record the chain size or supplier reference, the hook style, whether shortening is needed, the available handle clearance and whether the binder will be operated frequently. Ratchet versus lever configurations
A ratchet load binder is typically considered when the buyer wants a controlled, incremental tensioning action and a handle arrangement suited to the operating space. A lever load binder may be preferred where a simple manual mechanism is familiar to the crew. Build a repeatable specification

If the binder is part of a finished assembly, state whether the supplier should quote the chain, hooks and binder together or only the binder.
The request should also identify the operating context: flatbed trailer, truck, machinery transport, container-related work or project cargo. Include inspection and documentation questions

What inspection information is supplied? Which chain sizes and hook arrangements are compatible? What conditions require the component to be removed from service?
